Quality, environmental and energy policy as part of the corporate strategy
The quality, environmental and energy policy (hereinafter referred to as “Company Policy”) are key elements of the corporate strategy of Vereinigten Spezialmöbelfabriken. The principles and goals of our company policy are specified and documented by the management, which is responsible for them and communicates them internally and externally. They have been integrated with all other company principles and goals.


Integrative Approach and CIP
VS operates a quality, environmental and energy management system that is enshrined in the company activity. In this way, we ensure a continuous improvement process for quality, environmental protection and energy consumption. The quality, environmental protection and energy goals are regularly checked and updated.


Guiding Principle
A key guiding principle of our Company Policy is safeguarding the image of our company as a manufacturer of durable, high-quality products using ecologically responsible materials and production methods.


Quality Policy: Principles and Aims
The top priority of our Quality Policy is to meet the demands our customers make of the quality and reliability of our products and services. We want to stand out in the market due to our consistently high, long-lasting product quality and the equally high quality of all of our services, from first making contact with the customer to supporting them after delivery of our products. When specifying the quality demands for our products and services, we always advise our customers in a spirit of partnership and according to the best of our knowledge and abilities.
The top priority of our Quality Policy is thus to achieve maximum customer satisfaction. It is the declared aim of our company to manufacture high-quality, largely environmentally sound products that meet the requirements and expectations of our customers. For this, we use state-of-the-art procedures, methods and production facilities.


Meeting Legal Regulations on Environmental Protection, Product Safety and Accident Prevention
Meeting all conditions from legal and administrative regulations at European, federal, Land and local authority level is a matter of course for VS, we aim to fall well below statutory limit values. We also guarantee the security of our products by cooperating with independent, authorised testing institutions. Even in the run-up to the development and design of products, all relevant technical guidelines (e.g., DIN) and other accident prevention regulations. It is a principle of our understanding of quality that all relevant product areas have current GS labels (safety-tested). In addition, we have our products tested with respect to minimal pollutant emissions.

Environmental Policy: Principles and Aims
VS considers responsible stewardship of the environment’s natural resources to be an important company principle. The main aims of the Environmental Policy at VS are to keep the environmental impacts at the location as low as possible and to be able to offer our customers products manufactured in as environmentally friendly a way as possible. At VS, we understand an obligation to our natural environment as:

  • Protecting the environment, our employees and our customers by preventing harmful influences in the manufacture, use and disposal of our products

  • Avoiding or minimising emissions and wastes

  • As little use as possible of the natural resources of water, soil and air

  • Economical use of materials in all manufacturing areas (circular economy)

  • Particular durability of VS products, an environmentally oriented choice of materials and recycling-friendly, modular construction of VS products.

Energy Policy: Principles and Aims
Environmental protection and the associated economical use of energy has been part of how the company is run for many years. With the DIN EN ISO 50001-compliant energy management system, conditions are constantly created to consciously control energy consumption and progressively improve energy-related performance. This is achieved by:

  • Optimising energy supply and generation

  • Taking account of the energy efficiency of production facilities during procurement

  • Economical use of energy in all manufacturing areas

  • Encouraging the use of renewable energies

  • Reducing CO2 emissions

Responsibility and qualification of all employees
Trained and qualified staff perform the necessary work in all areas of the company. The VS Company Policy with its principles and objectives is accessible to all employees and is binding and mandatory with respect to their responsibility. Every one of our employees has tasks and functions in their area of work that are relevant to quality, which are defined in relevant process descriptions and work instructions. We support our employees with an organisational structure, process organisation and clear interface descriptions and prevent possible mistakes and wastage of resources right from the development phase. Moreover, all employees are required to report errors in processes or the product and sources of resource wastage and potential environmental pollution to their direct supervisors immediately. By training all employees with respect to the direct and indirect environmental impacts of their work area, we foster environmental awareness and action in all areas.

Strategy 2025
In the Strategy 2025 project, VS is developing measures for the years ahead that also pay particular attention to issues around digitisation. Thanks to the defined projects, viable strategies for the years ahead to 2025 will be developed and implemented in various VS fields of activity.

Company Control
The management of VS Vereinigten Spezialmöbelfabriken GmbH & Co. KG is convinced that quality and resource management also includes economic activity. We will secure the future of our company in the long term by means of quality, environmental protection and efficiency.

Certification
Certification of our management systems according to the requirements of DIN EN ISO 9001, DIN EN ISO 14001 and EN ISO 50001 is evidence of the efficiency of our quality claims, environmental protection measures and energy-related performance.

Social responsibility: Principles 

VS is committed to a high level of responsibility towards people, the environment and society. As a participant of the UN Global Compact (UNGC), we have voluntarily committed ourselves to aligning our business activities with the principles of the UNGC. This responsibility encompasses both our own business activities and the business relationships along the value chain. We are actively committed to compliance with laws, standards of conduct and human rights in order to prevent, end and minimise negative impacts on human rights within our business activities. VS is guided by the following human rights standards, laws and guidelines: 

  • the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence in Supply Chains,
  • the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations
  • the guidelines for the rights of children and corporate action
  • the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • the international labour standards of the International Labour Organization, and
  • the United Nations Global Compact

Responsibility and ambition

VS attaches particular importance to human rights and good working conditions. The protection and promotion of human rights within our field of influence are part of the general corporate philosophy and are binding for all employees and managers of VS. The following principles in particular apply to the organisation of working conditions:

  • Compliance with the prohibition of child and forced labour
  • Equal treatment of all employees and no tolerance of discrimination
  • Granting remuneration at least equal to legally guaranteed minimum wages with working hours in accordance with applicable standard
  • Protection of personal data
  • Recognition of the right of all employees to form or join a labour union and to engage in collective bargaining to regulate working conditions
  • The above-mentioned principles are anchored in the VS Supplier Guideline – Code of Conduct (CoC) and serve as a basic requirement for any cooperation.

Human rights due diligence

VS continuously checks within the framework of risk analyses whether there are particular risks of human rights violations in the context of its own business activities. These potential risks concern the areas of human rights and ethics, labour rights, fair business practices and the environment. Child and forced labour, discrimination, working hours and occupational health and safety were identified as particularly sensitive issues. The findings of the risk analysis are used to define concrete measures to avoid, stop or minimise human rights violations and to integrate these into the relevant business processes.
