Number of the month 67

What distracts young people most from learning? It's quite clear: the number one distraction is... the mobile phone.
In a study conducted by the International University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, 67 percent of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 stated that smartphones are their biggest distraction when studying.
A total of 2,500 people in Germany aged between 16 and 65 were surveyed. Smartphones were also the biggest distraction for the 26 to 40 age group. For the next generation, tiredness is the biggest problem when it comes to concentrated learning.

The survey conducted by IU International University shows how much digital media influences young people's everyday learning. Especially at a time when learning is often supported digitally, the constant stream of notifications can lead to a loss of concentration.

Many experts therefore recommend deliberately putting your smartphone out of reach during study sessions. This minimises distractions and improves your focus on the learning material. After all, effective learning requires one thing above all else: undisturbed concentration.
